Eva explores international student life at ESN Groningen and finds herself in the midst of a colorful Traffic Light Party filled with surprises, friendship, and dating drama. In her final year of studies, Eva decides there’s still plenty to discover in Groningen’s nightlife. This time she joins ESN Groningen, Europe’s largest international student association, known for hosting social events and parties.

Traffic Light Party

The evening begins relaxed and cozy but quickly escalates into an adventurous dating night: the Traffic Light Party at club The Palace. Eva meets Leire, an enthusiastic former Hanze student who immortalized her love for Groningen with a tattoo. While enjoying calimoxo, a surprising Basque drink (wine mixed with cola!), Leire shares why Groningen captured her heart: ‘The student life, freedom, and coziness are unmatched anywhere else.’

Wearing colored bracelets indicating their relationship status—green for single, yellow for ‘it’s complicated,’ and red for taken—the group heads to The Palace. There, it quickly becomes clear that not everyone knows exactly what they’re looking for. Eva enthusiastically attempts to play matchmaker but encounters mostly humorous and awkward situations. While trying to pair up an enthusiastic DJ (‘Sorry, I’m engaged!’), she also encounters gym bros with overly specific preferences and confusion about relationship statuses (‘He’s wearing all three colors, prepared for every scenario’).

Amid all the failed matches and comedic moments, Eva notices how easy it is to forge new connections within ESN Groningen. Ultimately, the evening doesn’t bring Eva and Leire grand romantic love, but it definitely provides new friendships, unforgettable memories, and a deeper insight into Groningen’s dynamic student life. This adventure at ESN Groningen marks the perfect conclusion to a series filled with surprises, humor, and friendship, highlighting everything Eva set out to explore.
