Students create platform that celebrates DIY culture in Groningen
What do you do when the University tasks you with the organization of a music festival in Groningen, and corona strikes? A group of Arts, Culture and Media students at the University of Groningen found a creative solution: they changed their festival idea into a platform.
Despite the current regulations, and especially the isolation, the artistic process endures, and according to the students, artists (many of them from the Minerva Art Academy) and their audiences can be brought together in new creative ways.
The Assembler [platform] is their way of “assembling” the assemblers of the community under the same virtual roof, providing a space where the DIY culture of Groningen is able to adapt and create.
Anna talks to Martha and Geraldine, two of the organizers about the concept and launch of the platform this week.
