Students win 30,000 Euros
Elanna Veldkamp (Canada), Frieza Putri (Indonesia) and Seda Sözügeçer and Süheyla Urfalioglu (Turkey) managed to acquire 30,000 Euros. The students of the Master of International Communication (MIC) participated in the finals of the GasTerra Transition Award and won the second prize: 20,000 Euros. Their video about the project won the Internet Award, another 10,000 Euros.
The GasTerra Transition Award is for sustainable projects at universities of applied sciences that come up with sustainable answers to problems that companies are faced with. The four students adopted a business case from Campina Friesland. The four students have worked out plans to equip Campina farms with solar panels. The farmers will pay back the investments in ten years. The jury thinks the plan fits in perfectly with the sustainability mission of Campina Friesland because the plans can also be implemented in Asia and Africa.
Eighty percent of the prize money will go to Campina Friesland towards the implementation of the plans. The MIC students will continue to participate in the implementation. The rest of the prize money is for the students. On the photo, from left to right, Frieza, Elanna and Sead. Further info?
